King & Queen vs King

Queen Mate

This is an easy mate, but it is possible to accidently stalemate your opponent.

  1. Use your Queen and King to force the opposing King to an edge row.
  2. Post your Queen on the next row.
  3. With your King on the third row, chase the opposing king until his move will put within striking distance of the King-Queen combo.
  4. When he moves in range, mate with your Queen by either back row mate, or by setting your Queen (protected by your King) directly in front of his King.

White to move.

Black King on E8, White King on E1, White Queen on D1.
